So if you are looking at buying a new PC or upgrading your existing power supply (maybe to accommodate a high performance graphics card) you might want to make sure you are buying a 80 plus rated power supply.

All 80+ power supply’s must meet strict limits on power consumption with the most important one being that they must be at least 80% efficient. With this level of efficiency every of every 100 watts of power that goes into your PC from the mains 80 watts must end up with the components inside.

The main advantage of these supplies is the reduction in cost to power the PC and the obvious benefits to the environment.

One of the best options on the market at the moment has to be the OCZ modular power supplies which give you the choice as to only use the power cables you need (and so cut down on clutter inside your case); additionally they are up to 86% efficient.

To find out more to do with 80 plus visit this link here.
Or to see the options for OCZ power supplies from Novatech visit this link here.

With the new AMD Athlon Neo II dual core processor at its heart and upgraded ATI graphics this PC is capable of more than just HD video playback and goes all the way up to playing games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 at low – medium detail level.

The 2 year warranty from John Lewis (link) is a real bonus and with a 500GB hard drive + a total price tag of £649.95 this PC is not something to miss.

Other improved features include 4GB of upgraded RAM (faster than previous generations) plus N class Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so if your sitting in a coffee shop or using your phone as a Bluetooth modem you can be connected to the internet wherever you are.

There’s a HDMI port on the side so you can easily hook yourself up to a HDTV (if the 13.3” widescreen of this PC isn’t enough for you) as well as 4 USB ports.

With a multi touch track pad you can easily zoom in and out of web pages/photos and the low weight of just 1.89kg means this PC is easy to carry no matter where you are off to.

If that wasn’t enough this PC also comes with a 5 in 1 memory card reader and low light webcam + microphone.

However in an interesting twist HP UK are offering (on a select number of PCs) a 2 year warranty at no extra cost; one such PC is the HP G62-a20SA which is currently selling for £469.

While aimed at the budget user this notebook PC still comes with some great extra features like Bluetooth, N class Wi-Fi and a 320GB hard drive. Powered by a latest generation AMD Athlon II processor this PC wont disappoint when it comes to speed when watching DVDs, playing music or adding the finishing touches to your photos all while running Windows 7 Home Premium.

The onboard ATI graphics aren’t suitable for gaming however you do still get HD ready performance for video which looks great on the 15.6” LED screen, there’s even a HDMI port included so you can easily hook your PC up to a HDTV.

With a low weight of just 2.2kg this PC is also very portable and also comes with 3 USB ports, a webcam + microphone, 4GB of RAM (great for keeping multiple programs running at the same time) and a energy star qualification for energy efficacy.

A HP wireless keyboard and mouse is included in the box so if this is your first PC you can get setup and running in no time.

The onboard graphics are HD capable and this PC even comes with a HDMI port so you can quickly and easily hook your PC up to your HDTV and enjoy DVDs and online video on the big screen.

With Office 2010 Starter edition pre installed you can get right into working with Word and Excel documents without having to buy additional software, additionally this PC comes with the Windows Live suite of applications including Photo Gallery and Movie Maker so you can capture, edit and share your home videos quickly.
