LightScribe Disk Technology
Most blank CDs/DVDs these days come with the title of the company that made the CD printed on the top (e.g. TDK or Sony) but wouldn’t it be great if you could print your own image on to the disk instead? LightScribe technology allows you to do this with minimal work and at almost the price of a normal CD.
As already mentioned LightScribe is include in most modern HP computers as a standard feature mainly because it was an HP engineer who came up with the idea of the technology (wiki link); this is great for those who have a HP PC as they don’t need to buy a separate drive to burn LightScribe (that said other manufacturers include LightScribe in their PCs).
Those who don’t have a HP PC will need to buy a separate disk drive (link to one on Amazon.co.uk),
Once you have got the disk drive you will need some disks, just type in ‘LightScribe’ followed by CD or DVD into Amazon.co.uk and you should find something to fit your price range. Here’s a few suggestions though-
DVD 50 Tub £14.99 – Highly Recommended
CD 50 Tub £13.99
DVD 5 pack in cases £3.99
CD 10 pack in cases £4.50
So you’ve got your burner drive, the software needed (usually comes with the burner if not just download the basic version from the LightScribe website at this link) and some CDs/DVDs to burn. All that you need to do is put the disk in your drive (the wrong way up if that makes sense), design your label and wait about 10 minutes (depending on the design) for your disk to come out.
For a personalised recommendation of a PC with a LightScribe disk drive click here (then select Desktop or Notebook PC) and in the box at the bottom just put ‘LightScribe compatible’.
So all that’s left to say is Happy Burning!
